Returning to Chokor

I recently returned to Chokor, a fishing village in the Accra Metropolis, through a partnership between Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Brothers And Sisters In Christ Serving (B.A.S.I.C.S International). Chokor is vibrant yet underserved, and BASICS has been providing education and resources there since 2000.

Teaching AI/ML and Cloud Foundations

This time our focus was on artificial intelligence, machine learning and cloud computing. Using AWS DeepRacer and AWS Educate, we taught the youth how AI/ML works and why cloud technology is essential for future innovation. The students were quick learners, eagerly applying new concepts and building confidence in their abilities. It was inspiring to see their excitement as they realized that technology can open doors for their communities.

Gratitude and Lasting Impact

I’m grateful to BASICS International and AWS for making this possible. Empowering the next generation with AI, ML and cloud skills ensures that even in places like Chokor, young people have the tools to build bright futures.
